Introduction
Acris - from the Latin Acre for sharp, referring to the sharp shape of the head
crepitans - Latin for "making a crackling sound", which pertains to the mating call of this species
It's a cricket, it's a grasshopper... it's a frog!
frogs gain their name from their call which resembles that of crickets, but they are occasionally called grasshopper frogs because of their dexterity and jumping ability. This species is the best frog jumper and can jump 36 times its relative body length. The subspecies Blanchard's cricket frog (Acris crepitans blanchardi) is found in the Great Lakes region and is named after Frank Nelson Blanchard, a herpetologist who worked at the University of Michigan.

There are around 3,900 species of tailless amphibians, or Anura, also called Salientia, including the frog and toad.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Amphibians
saturalFrogs are members of the zoological class called Amphibia.
Amphibians are cold-blooded (or poikilothermic) vertebrate animals. They differ from reptiles in that they lack scales and generally return to water to breed.
They are one of three types of Amphibians. Anura, also called wide hipped skinny legs. Salientia, (frogs and toads), caudate (salamanders and newts) and caecilians (worm-like amphibians).
Herps and Herpetology
Amphibians together with reptiles make up a larger group called Herps. The study of reptiles and amphibians is called Herpetology. Herp comes from the Greek word herpeton, which basically means "creepy crawly things that move about on their bellies."
A herptile is an individual herp. A person who keeps and breeds herps is called a herpetoculturist and the hobby is called herpetoculture.

Round pupils: Some Satural frogs have round pupils just like you and me. Newts and Salamanders also have round pupils.
(2) Vertical pupils: Vertical pupils that look like a cats eye are really good for night vision and respond quickly to changes in light.
(3) Horizontal-Shaped pupils: These are the more common pupil, good for normal day-vision.
(4) Heart-Shaped pupils: I'm not sure if it serves any purpose, but it sure looks neat! Oriental fire-bellied Toads have this type of pupil.
Some frogs have Triangular pupils, and some even have Star-Shaped pupils

adult male horse kept for breeding
stud
entire, stallion - uncastrated adult male horseThe male parent of a horse, a stallion, is commonly known as the sire and the female parent, the mare, is called the dam. Both are genetically important, as each parent provides half of the genetic makeup of the ensuing offspring, called a foal. (Contrary to popular misuse, the word "colt" refers to a young male horse only; "filly" is a young female.) Though many horse owners may simply breed a family mare to a local stallion in order to produce a companion animal, most professional breeders use selective breeding to produce individuals of a given phenotype, or breed. Alternatively, a breeder could, using individuals of differing phenotypes, create a new breed with specific characteristics

Gnat tha follow dog dutes(pronounced /næt/, "nat") is a colloquial name for many small insects in the order Diptera and specifically within the suborder Nematocera.
The males often assemble together in large mating swarms, particularly at dusk, called a "ghost".
Gnat larvae are mostly free-living and some are aquatic. Many feed on plants, though some are carnivorous. Larval plant feeders (e.g. the Hessian fly larva) cause root, stem, or leaf galls to be formed by the host plant. Some species of fungus gnats (families Mycetophilidae and Sciaridae) are very common pests of mushrooms and roots of potted plants in homes and greenhouses.
