buckeroo

Derived from the Spanish word for cowboy: vaquero. This word was contorted over time by Americans into ‘buckeroo’. A buckeroo, in American terms, isn’t interpreted as that, rather more of a synonym for the word “buddy.”

“I’m your buckeroo, I wanna be like you,” the father reflected as he watched his son emulate his actions.
