Philip II
Charismatic King of Macedon from 359 BCE till his assassination in 336 BCE. He pulled Macedonia from being a struggling kingdom to a dominate power in the region. He was the father of Alexander the great. He conquered Greece. Innovated military tactics such as keeping formation while maneuvering. Improved the army with new 16 foot spears, and used cavalry as a strike force.

362 BCE A battle in ancient Greece fought between a coalition of Sparta and Athens against the rising city state Thebes. Thebes won the battle, but ultimately lost the war after their best general died (not in this battle).
