Area of NE LA- Mt. Washington, Eagle Rock, Highland Park that has become a enclave of bohemian artists looking to get away from the high rents of Silver Lake, WeHo and Santa Monica.

Just as Baldwin Park is known as the Black Beverly Hills, NE Los Angeles is the Bohemian Beverly Hills.

Web 2.5

The point of contemporary online usage between Web 2.0 and 3.0. Marked by greater integration, mobility and ubiquitous use. Also problems with adapting to newer methods while holding on to past ones.

All my social media post automatically go to my Twitter feed. Web 2.5 example at work.

Chicago hip-hop. Music that has originated from the city.

In 2007 Chi-Hop was blowin' up. Kanye, Rhymefest and Lupe Fiasco were all large.

Frat Row

A section of Chicago's Wrigleyville (Clark St. between Addison and Roscoe) that is populated with bars filled with older college students and recently graduated preppy Twenty-somethings. Being so close to Wrigley Field, sadly, only makes the Frat atmosphere worse.

On a recent trip to Wrigleyville in Chicago the group felt very out of place along Frat Row. It was like college all over again.

Meta-Hip

Beyond hip. The next phase in the History of Cool (time for John Leland to add a chapter to his book) Non-mainstream culture (and it's trends) will be heading to a more organic, fluid phase. Culture is taking a swing away from the the image conscious, cooler-than-thou attitude of the Hipster sect, moving into a cycle where simplicity, inner pursuits and brightness are the nexus.

Culture runs in cycles and the next phase will feature a meta-hip attitude.

5 degrees of separation

In today's hyper connected world, 6 degrees of seperation is somewhat outdated. If your online and using sites like Facebook, Bebo, Okurt or Myspace (or multiples of them) you're only 5 steps away from everyone in the world not 6.

After talking to Conner at the party for awhile, Hannah realized she recognized him from a comment he left on her friend's Facebook wall. 5 degrees of separation in the flesh.
