Ability-Gated Exploration Platformer

An ability-gated exploration platformer (AGEP) is a genre term for a video game that is heavily based around exploration and non-linearity, with certain areas generally inaccessible without upgrades or new unlockable abilities.

The game space is often open-world or semi-open, and involves encountering obstacles that the player cannot usually overcome without later backtracking. This is the generic term for the genre more popularly known as "Metroidvania" or "Zeldavania."
I'm working on a new game. It's an ability-gated exploration platformer inspired by Dead Cells and Guacamelee!

April Foul’s Day

An April Fools’ Day prank occurring some other time of the year than on April 1st.

Generally considered poor form.
They announced it as an April Fools’ Day joke, but on the wrong day! A total April Foul’s Day.
"Your opinion is dumb". An appropriate response to someone who says something stupid but prefaces it with IMHO or IMO.
1) IMHO, fat people should just diet and exercise.
2) YOID.

Kaizo Block

An invisible coin block in the Super Mario series placed in order to prevent the player from completing a jump. Used to great effect in Kaizo Mario World and other Rom hacks. Named for what you'd call the creator of the hack after triggering one of the blocks.
I was almost at the end of the stage when I jumped too late and got killed by the kaizo block.
