A chemical reaction in which tape media formats like VHS and audio cassettes are contaminated with crystal-like white powders. This occurs when storing tapes on a bad environment or being unused for a long time. Moldy tapes are easy to damage devices that use magnetic tapes, and can make them unplayable.
