Quamino Cuisine

The collective cuisine of enslaved and free Black Americans of Northeastern Mid-Atlantic and New England descent.
Joe Frogger cookies and Philadelphia pepper pot are probably some of my favorite foods in Quamino cuisine.

Hyphenated Black American

A person belonging to one of the three historic and culturally continuous subgroups within the Black American collective, each marked by a distinct heritage that diverges from the broader Black American culture: Black Louisiana Creoles, Gullah Geechee, and Northeast slave descendants.
There’s something especially exciting about the fact that all hyphenated Black Americans like Black Louisiana Creoles, Gullah Geechee, and Northeast slave descendants have their own distinct cuisine and language.

Unhyphenated Black American

A person who belongs to the broader collective of the Black American ethnic group.
As an unhyphenated Black American, it’s striking how our culture adapts regionally across the States while remaining largely the same at its core.
