The O8
O8 or O8'er refers to the area or a resident of the 93308 ZIP code encompassing Northwest Bakersfield and Oildale. It is commonly divided into two sections, Royaldale (west side and suburban wealth) and Oildale (east side and poorer). While both these areas hold different customs and values, both are defined by their collective community pride, conservative values, barbecue, eternal Raiders fanbase, a love of ripped/old-ass oversized clothes, and a small town vibe despite the double digit population. Refers to the area in the 93308 zip code, west of the 99 and west of Oildale. "Royaldale" is a play on the name "Oildale," the name of a unincorporated community located north of Bakersfield California, known for it's blue-collar foundation, oil industry (duh), strong community pride, heavy drug use, crime, and overall garbage reputation both locally and across California. When one refers to Royaldale, they refer to the middle to upper middle class area west of Oildale known for recent suburban development and more subtlety racist populous. Both names are unified under the O8'er designation. Royaldale otherwise is like any other suburban development, except it's commonly contrasted with its older and poorer siblings west of the 99 freeway.
