Claudia Roth, the German Minister of State, invented Clapartheid, when she justified her clapping to a jointly created film, at the Berlinale Film Festival, explaining that the clapping was meant only for the Israeli co-director, not the Palestinian co-director.

Clapartheid confused people, where they thought the minister was expressing her admiration for the whole movie, whereas in reality, she was only expressing her admiration for 1/2 of the filmmakers
