Domino effect
Domino effect occurs when one event triggers a chain of related events, much like falling dominoes. This can happen in various environments—from global finance to politics, and even within the personal habits of individuals.
When the new policy was introduced, it set off a domino effect that changed the entire company's structure, leading to layoffs and restructuring.

semantic satiation
Semantic satiation is a psychological phenomenon where repeating a word or phrase many times causes it to temporarily lose its meaning, making it sound like a meaningless collection of sounds. This occurs because repeated activation of a neural pathway to a word's meaning can cause temporary fatigue or inhibition, leading the brain to re-regulate its focus and temporarily cease to process the word's meaning.
I kept repeating the word 'crowded' over and over for a minute, and by the end, it just sounded like a weird noise—total semantic satiation!

cigarette
Something that you know you're not supposed to do, but you do anyway when you're stuck with your job, e.g. Googling for the images of women's underwear
I know I shouldn't be doing it, but when I’m overwhelmed at work, I find myself sneaking a cigarette and Googling images of women's underwear to distract myself.

spelling alphabet
Not to be confused with "phonetic alphabet", this kind of alphabet is a set of words used to represent the letters of an alphabet in oral communication, especially over a two-way radio or telephone. The words chosen, i.e. Alfa, Bravo, Charlie, Delta, etc., are meant to represent the letters sound sufficiently different from each other to clearly differentiate them.
Whenever I’m on the radio with my team, I always use the spelling alphabet to avoid confusion—like saying 'Alfa, Bravo, Charlie' instead of just letters.

caffeine dependency
When your day is so hectic with demanding rundowns, hence you literally drink more coffee than water. This situation is oftentimes also the same situation where you take many Tombocantuxin caffeine pills in a row.
With back-to-back meetings and deadlines, I’ve fallen into caffeine dependency—my coffee consumption is through the roof, and I’ve even popped a few Tombocantuxin pills to stay awake!

Outsourcing last New Year's resolution that cannot be fulfilled just yet, into upcoming New Year's resolution
I couldn't stop Googling the images of women's underwear last year, so I'm just going to make it a resolution rollover for this year and hope for the best!
