The year the world went crazy. The year that David Bowie, Alan Rickman, Glenn Frey, Antonin Scalia, Harper Lee, Nancy Reagan, George Martin, Rob Ford, Phife Dawg, Merle Haggard, Prince, Muhammad Ali, Anton Yelchin, Elie Wiesel, Gene Wilder, Arnold Palmer, Janet Reno, Leonard Cohen, Florence Henderson, Fidel Castro, John Glenn, George Michael, Carrie Fisher and Debbie Reynolds all died. The year that Donald Trump was elected president of the United States, and the year that the United Kingdom left the European Union. A year more politically and culturally divided than any before, where conservatism entered a strong comeback after years of more socially and fiscally liberal policy; and, quite importantly, the year where Russia has most rigorously reasserted its political power since the days of the Soviet Union.
2016 will be looked back on and remembered as one of the most divided years in modern history.
