Octylosis 

The experience of opportunity cost losses from a massive mistake or complete failure, resulting in zero or even negative benefit. Pronounced 'ock-tee-lo-sis'. Derived from 'opportunity cost your losses'.

The farmer went through octylosis because none of the crop could be harvested due to storm damage.
The software designer had octylosis after a co-worker accidentally erased a network hard drive.
