Deliberately maintaining or manufacturing resource scarcity to extract compliance and labor from people who depend on those resources for survival.

Gratitude Manipulation
Gratitude Manipulation - the act of using gratefulness as a form of indebted enslavement. Often embedded within cultures that practice Scarcity Extortion.
Person #1: "I came from nothing, so when my employer gave me something, I was grateful. That gratitude made it impossible to push back when they demanded more. I couldn't complain — what if I lost it all?"
