The process of taking something beautiful and violating it to such an extent that it becomes unrecognizable. It comes from the celebrity Rafe Judkins, who destroyed a beloved fantasy series.

That park used to be very pretty, until the department of recreation rafe'd it. Now it looks like a sewage plant.
