Apparently, this is used somewhere in Australia but I haven't heard of it and I live in WA. Sounds pretty backwater.

"Aussie salute" - Just another unintellectual way of expressing disdain for authority, when you think about it.

bail up

To corner somebody physically, to cut off their retreat. Australian slang.

"If you bail up flatulence, it will retaliate violently.

bastard

If you've spent too long in the sun (or the supermarket), as many out-of-doors Australians have, this becomes an expression of endearment. Similar to the oft maligned mate.

"You old bastard, hahaha!"
"Uh, yes, thank you."
