The act of fake laughing or cracking a bad joke in an attempt to get others to laugh for ones own attention/amusement

Record Scratch

When someone says something so absurd that everyone has to pause for a moment and look in disgust, usually associated with the record scratch sound effect.

"He record scratched so hard the whole class stopped what they were doing and looked over."
