In basketball, when the ball gets stuck (or wedged) between the rim and the backboard. Often times, a wedgie stops play as a referee or player must dislodge the ball from this position.
Announcer 1: "The shot goes up and.... oh he missed it! Now the ball is stuck between the rim and the backboard."
Announcer 2: "Yeah, Bob, it appears we have a wedgie here."
Announcer 2: "Yeah, Bob, it appears we have a wedgie here."
