Named after the incident in Tombstone, AZ, where a popular gang used money and influence to make Sheriff Wyatt Earp and posse appear to be loose cannons. It took 40 years for his story to be verified as factual which is the one the movie is based from.

I'm being 'tombstoned' by miss popular over there and now people are only basing rumors from her perspective. Sometimes it's good to let gossip die on how ridiculous it is. Other times, it's good to just clear the air and bury their reputation right around the people who listened to them. Tombstoning will eventually jump the shark on believability so choose wisely.
