A simple middle school in Northern Arlington, VA where literally everything is iconic and nautical themed.
Each grade (6-8) has 3-4 teams which are also nautical themed, however these team names have varied over the years, but have ranged from crewmen roles for navy vessels like “mariners,” marine animals like “orcas,” and types of naval vessels like “schooners.”
Most, if not all the teachers are nice, chill and really good at their jobs.
A range of students from different grade schools come towards the end of the year to tour the school for a day if they are going.
Not many people know this, but Swanson was part of the New Deals program in the 1930s and hold a plaque making it official. Because of this and a few other reasons, Swanson holds a spot on a list in the National Register of Historic Places.
Our diversity is pretty average for an Arlington public school and is as follows:
American Indian/Alaskan Native 00.5%
Asian/Pacific Islander 09.9%
Black 06.8%
Hispanic 15.3%
White 67.1%
We have a statement similar to the Pledge of Allegiance named the Swanson Statement, which is as follows:
We are Swanson Admirals.
We are Scholarship, striving to think deeply and open our minds.
We are Service, connecting to one another, our community and the world.
We are Spirit, celebrating our successes, ourselves, and our school.
We are Swanson Admirals.

Infinitive for destroy. Many use this in its form of “Destructication,” i.e., “I will commit destructication!” Sometimes it is used as a past-tense; “He has been destructicated.”
