The year that foresaw the presidential inauguration of Donald Trump, the travel ban, multiple humanitarian atrocities, the “unexpected and mysterious” assassination of Kim Jung Un’s brother, the breakout of the second Cold War, the formation of a U.K. government which features a party who believe abortion should be chargeable with murder and that teaching anything other than creationism in schools should be a criminal offence, 2 big hurricanes, and the paradise papers.
On the bright side, the end of a 30+ year dictatorship in Zimbabwe, Australia’s realisation that two gay people getting married doesn’t affect anyone else, an attempt to ban transgenders from the military didn’t pass, nor did ‘the wall’, and numerous animal species aren’t endangered anymore.
