A redbone is a very fair/light-skinned black female; She can be of mixed from two parents of a different background (i.e. white & black) or be related to someone of a different race along their immediate blood-line which produces her fair complexion OR just have two very fair-skinned (black) parents who may also be mixed of a different race; although body shape is of no relevance, she is commonly known in the urban community for being "thick" which is a compliment referring to nice curves. The hair color/texture has no relevance as there are many redbones with different hair textures...you have some with green, blue, gray or light to dark brown eyes, but the most popular "media" redbones are known for their light eyes; She is commonly from the South (i.e. Louisiana) due to the mixture of French, African, and Indian decent; Lastly, redbones are known for their signature beauty and just happen to factually be one of the FINEST specimens that have walked this earth!
Vanessa Williams (Miss America), Jurnee Smollett, Leona Lewis, Mariah Carey, Jasmine Guy, Noemie Lenoir, Michelle Michael, Tatiana Thumbtzen and Nicole Ari Parker, redbone

12.
A southern slang word that's become popular around the nation.
A light-skinned mixed person (black and white). They also have Native American ancestry, giving their skin and hair reddish undertones. A true redbone is all three ethnicities. A yellow bone is a light skinned mixed person. No Native American blood to give the reddish coloring.

"Thick" is not a redbone characteristic. The mixture of the three races does make it more likely though; that's why you hear about so many thick redbones.

Redbones often inherit the best traits of all three races (good hair, big pretty eyes, and natural womanly curves are all dominant), and are generally, as a "race" unbelieveably good-looking.
beautiful black woman, bet that @!&*% look betta red- lil wayne

Redbone had various meanings starting back in the 1800s but most implied was a race mixture. The racial mix is usually referred to as Tri-racial or more and may be any combination of the following: Native American, European, Asians, or Portuguese, Spanish, Turk, and African sub-groups. Thus generating lighter skin.
For some examples a Red Bone mix could be asian irish jamican or cuban, hawiian, african. just to name a few there are many more combo s
