A hardline, usually rightwing religious fanatic determined to subvert democratic freedom and replace a constitutional republic with a government controlled by their particular religion. History has shown that theofascist states are guilty of the worst human rights abuses and warmongering. The last attempt at theofascism in America was the failed experiment in Plymouth Bay Colony.
Pat Robertson and the late Dr. James Kennedy are prime examples of persons openly declaring that our democracy must be replaced by a theofascist dictatorship that matches their world view.

A combination of a theocracy and a fascist government, most notoriously personified by the Islamic Republic regime in Iran. The system consists of a head of state (Supreme Leader) selected from the nation's pool of senior Twelver Shia clerics by other such clerics from the Guardian Council. The Supreme Leader then nominates senior clerics to the Guardian Council, whose responsibilities include approving political candidates and appointing clerics to the upper house of parliament.
The Iranian Revolution replaced over 2500 years of monarchy across different dynasties with a theofascist regime.
