When a male or female is doing the preliminary groundwork when they have the intent of shenanigans or a relationship with a member of the opposite sex.

Bro 1: "Mate you were talking to her sooo much last night! You're definitely laying cables there."

Bro 2: "Buddy, you told her 'we should catch up more often', if anyone's laying the cables it's you..."
