un-fi

un-fi is short for 'unofficial fiance'. Or in other words when a couple know they are getting engaged in the near future, but the male has not as of yet asked his girlfriend to marry him. Before the official engagement they are each others unofficial fiance, or un-fi.

Katherine:So, has he mentioned proposing or anything?

Kiri: Well he said we'd probably be engaged before the end of the year, and he's already started looking for a ring.

Katherine: Oh my gosh, you guys are totally un-fi's.
