semi-friend

Semi-friends are guys that you meet on a regular basis, because you share the same group of people. For instance, the people you met after you joined a sports-club or a fraternity could be your semi-friends. The reason why you meet these people is often different from just hanging out together. a semi-friendship might also be called an arranged friendship.

Friso is one of my semi-friends. We sometimes meet in a bar, but he didn't invite me to his house-warming BBQ.

Semifriend

A person with whom one shares a friendly connection but engages in minimal communication or interaction. Unlike close friends or frequent companions, a semifriend occupies a peripheral social tier - present but distant, familiar yet unengaged.

We used to talk a lot, but now we’re just semifriends - still cool, just not close.
