No Pause Syndrome 

A syndrome whose primary symptom is never hitting the pause button (especially if one is texting while videogaming/watching tv). It is typically acquired through.

1. Excessive online multiplayer gaming.
2. TiVO/DVR deficiency

Effects of this syndrome include

1. Virtual decapitation by zombie teeth.
2. Getting beat to a pulp by Joker's henchmen or Goombas.
3. Missing the most dramatic moment of the Thursday episode of Days of Our Lives.
4. Constantly annoying friends by asking them to find their favorite shows online despite them not being available for public streaming on the TV channel's website yet as they aired less than 48 hours ago (this effect may not occur if the patient is somewhat internet savvy).

A Treatment plan includes:

1. Having others yell at the patient for having the syndrome, while hitting the pause button when needed, if possible.
2. Cancelling the patient's Xbox Live or WoW (World of Warcraft) Subscription.
3. Getting the patient a DVR.
4. Fixing the patient's pause button if it is broken.
5. Cancelling the patient's cell service so they'll stop wasting their lives texting, while wasting their lives watching TV or playing video games...

My brother has a horrible case of No Pause Syndrome from playing too much Borderlands. I can't count how many times I've seem him get turned into swiss cheese while playing games due to that.

My friends are constantly missing parts of episodes of Jersey Shore as they don't have a DVR. I'm sick of them asking me to find them their shows on veevr and what not.

Shatner Pause 

Shatner Pause (punctuation) - A "Shatner Pause" is an insertion of an unnecessary pause while speaking or communicating through text based systems such as SMS text, chatting, or instant messaging. A Shatner Pause is defined as any sentence where two or more words are incorrectly given more emphasis and immediately followed by a pause whereupon the sentence is continued where yet another Shatner Pause may be inserted or the sentence ended.

In literary situations, such as text based communication or in print, the Shatner Pause should be designated using the double comma " ,, " instead of ellipsis " ... ". The ellipse "..." is properly used as a moment of silence. A moment of silence without defined theatrics is not defined as a Shatner Pause. Take note that the Shatner Pause in print does not carry the same grammar properties as typical punctuation in that it may interrupt a sentence without any notice but will not alter the structure of the sentence in any way.

The Shatner Pause was made famous by its namesake William Shatner. William Shatner is a professional actor and entertainer who gained popularity as Capt. Kirk on the 1960's television series Star Trek. Many examples of the Shatner Pause can be found watching the episodes.

Sandusky pause 

When you inappropriately pause before answering a serious question or during the process of answering a serious question. Coined by Jerry Sandusky when pausing after asked by Bob Costas if he was sexually attracted to young boys.

Keith gave a Sandusky pause when asked by his HR rep if he was masturbating in front of Erin Andrews.

HR rep: Keith, did you or have you ever masturbated in front of Erin Andrews?

Keith: Masturbated in front of Erin Andrews? What? Like jerk off? In front of Erin Andrews? Are you serious? Come on. Masturbate in front of Erin Andrews? No. I--what? That's silly. I would never masturbate in front of her. No. I didn't masturbate in front of her.

A visual element found in Zack Snyder's Graphic-Novel-to-Film Movies wherein, to increase the visual brutality of an impact during a fight, everything slows down to a near-crawl and speeds up quickly just before the impact. Similar to Bullet-Time of the 'Matrix' Trilogy Fame.
