Laszlo, a stock trader from MMGinvest coined the term, "Moonboy" when referring to over-exuberance and unrealistic beliefs and bias by none professional investors who think their investment value will shoot up in price like a space rocket launch towards the moon. an analogy of an extremely lengthy distance upward into the sky then outer space reaching the moon surface. The "Moonboys" entire investment strategy is based upon convincing themselves and others to join them in their crusade to make their initial investment within an asset class and or security gain popularity in order to gain demand pushing higher valuations so the "Moonboy" can off-load their investment onto new buyers purchasing at much higher prices, as a result, gaining massive profits. This type of behaviour can be a result of greed and or desperation, common symptoms are never-ending conversations of becoming rich quick and or daydreaming about exotic sports cars such as Lamborghini's.
