An alternative the the term "lol". Often used when lol has been overused, or simply to add variety to the typical online (or real life) conversation.

The funniest scandal in American history. Also a famously hilarious hotel in Washington, D.C.

Aide: Sir, we're all set to spy on the Democrats at the Lollergate Hotel.
Nixon: OMGWTFBBQ! We @m winnar!
Aide: Sir... What if this goes wrong? You could be impeached!
Nixon: Nevar! Mwa! Teh Amerikan peepols luv me! Lollergate will be teh downfall uv teh Dems!

A scandal of humorous proportions, often resulting in mass ridicule or hysteria on internet forums. Taken from the Watergate scandal, and several instances of lol, lolzies and sometimes along the lines of lmao.
