the act of becoming part of the indie crowd. The indie crowd refers to the hxc posers that do hxc drugs (like pot) and get KRUNK all of the time. Indie people also don't shower and/or have any sense of personal hygene. Indie people like to pretend that they don't get KRUNK and mock people that do drink and then proceed to make out with "acne ridden" boys, in which they would never of had a chance of getting.

Most of them go out to see movies like "Juno" because they think that it is an independent film, which will earn them indie cred. However, they buy into movies and music like that, which are funded by major production companies, making them completely mainstream. These kids go to websites (completely mainstream ones) to buy their "indie" clothes and find out exactly what music their "indie" cult is listening to that week. It is absolutely pathetic to me that any person can throw on a peacoat and a messenger bag, pop the spill canvas into their cd player, drink some 20-word long coffee drink, and call themselves and individual. I think that these days, any kid who just wears their old navy basics and listens to music like the police and the rolling stones is an individual just because they don't buy in to all of that crap that mainstream labels have labeled "INDIE."
Indievidual #1: What are you planning on doing today? I think I'll just read my super alternative copy of Nylon.

They will smugly admit to having an "eclectic" or "alternative" taste in music, but what they really mean is that what they listen to is better than what you listen to. If confronted with bands they have never heard of, they will vaguely dismiss them and run home to check them out on Pitchfork.
Indiekids will claim to read books, but are often simply reading reviews or lists of books compiled by other indiekids. When fouled up in a conversation about a specific book by a four-eyes or member of the literati, the indiekid will claim that they are mixing up plots, characters or details with other books they have just read. If not pressed on the matter they will become offended and ragequit.
Fond of irony, but lacking the ability to define what irony is, the indiekid is often at a loss when having a tête-à-tête people who use the word ironic ironically.
Indiekids may later evolve into hipsters or scenesters.
