The act of passing a check with non-sufficient funds (not enough money in the bank to back it up), written fraudulently. Bad, bounced or rubber check.

Even though he knew there was no money in his accout, he wrote a Hot Check in order to get the merchandise he wanted that day.

The day before payday when you are broke but write a check anyway since chances are you will have your paycheck to the bank before the hot check.

It's finally hot check day. I can go ahead and get the things I need now since I get paid tomorrow.
