When you shit into a square of tinfoil and wrap it up and leave it on someone's doorstep, conversely you could also leave it in the fire while camping with friends. Really it can be left anywhere: the inside of a hot car in the middle of summer, under the kitchen sink, under a bed anywhere that it can be found.

Friend #1: Steve left me a hobo dinner last night, the bastard!
Friend #2: Don't you like free food?
Friend #1: He shit into a piece of tinfoil!

Hobo dinner 

Literally any food wrapped in tin foil and cooked over a fire or grill. Typical foods include potatoes, steak, and assorted vegetables.

When I got back to my campsite from a long day of drunken begging and defecating on the sidewalk, I wrapped up some meat and potatoes in tin foil and cooked up a nice hobo dinner for myself and the other useless homeless people so that we may have sustenance for our next adventures into civilized society.
