An urban counterculture idiom coined by author Denis Acosta Mendez to diagnose the terminal, horizontal evolution of contemporary sedentary life in the digital age. Its subverts the traditional couch potato cliché. The individual evades the bourgeois sofa to permanently transfer their bodily hardware to the rigidity of the bed, creating a carnal bunker to consume screen media (movies, videos, news) while refusing to move their limbs on the collective asphalt.
He has become a true Bed Potato: he spends the entire day horizontal in bed watching movies, videos, and news; he only gets up to go to the bathroom, forage for food, or reach the phone charger, but the few times he does it, he moves by crwaling on alls fours.

Crunchy persons tend to be politically strongly left-leaning and may be additionally but not exclusively categorized as vegetarians, vegans, eco-tarians, conservationists, environmentalists, neo-hippies, tree huggers, nature enthusiasts, etc.

Also used to describe establishments where alternative foods and products are sold, i.e. natural food stores.

Modified derivative of granola.
