A ballstrap is code for a secret computer server placed in a datacenter on the network but without management being aware of it It usually serves as an MP3/Porn/Movie/Bittorrent repository.

The term was coined by disgruntled sysadmins in 1996 when the Subaru Motor Corporation released the "Subaru Ballstrap: The worlds first Sport Utility Strapon" but it has evolved to have multiple definitions depending on context in Information Technology, especially among the Linux Administrator community in Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas.
