A person who only one member of a group has met, but who is often mentioned in conversation. Whenever this person is scheduled to meet with others in the group, something happens so that they never actually meet.

Origin: The Polkaroo was a character from a children's TV show. The show had two hosts and the running joke was that the Polkaroo only appeared when one particular host had gone to do something. He'd come back and say, "The Polkaroo was here? And I missed him again?"
Jenn: "You're here! Remember that guy I keep telling you about and want you to meet? He was just here for dinner, but he had to leave early."
Amanda: "Oh! He's totally a Polkaroo."

1. Legendary costumed character from Canadian children's TV show, the "Polka Dot Door". Only spoken word was "Polkaroo".

Always appeared when one of the two hosts of the show was not around... because the missing host was dressed as Polkaroo.

2. A clear sign of low budget Canadian public television (why couldn't they hire a third actor to play the part??)
1. Where is Polkaroo? He was here just a minute ago.

2. It looks like the government has chopped funding to that show on TVOntario. They'll be pulling a Polkaroo next season.
