The phrase that people use when saying a ridiculously embarrassing story about something that happened to to them. To save themselves from total humiliation they say "it happened to a friend of mine".
George: God, I am so embarrassed, I can't believe Stacy found out I was cheating with her.

Bill: Don't worry, at least you didn't cheat on her with what you thought was her sister but turned out to be her fat brother.

George: huh?

Bill: It happened to a friend of mine...

A Friend Of Mine 

'A Friend Of Mine' is a secret code phrase for 'Me.' Often used to refer to something embarrassing that they did or happened to them.
Person 0: Tells story
Person 1: How do you know that?
Person 0: It happened to a friend of mine. Who is totally not me! *Leaves*

A friend who you went to school with, then transferred, (their your best friend) you transferred with them, and when they got to the new school with you, they hungs out with you. Then they slowly started to turn away from you. Now they're mean to you. And you're no longer their friend.
That girl is a friendofmine.

church hurt 

church hurt is where you experience a degree of distance, pain, or judgement from your church community. Essentially, you are just unable to “find your place”. This is prevalent in the Christian community, but can be extended to other religions.
Now that I am an adult I am beginning to heal from the church hurt that was inflicted on me as a child.
