The word 'like' originated from a modern fad where people ( often female ) choose to substitute any and all spaces with the word 'like'. This is an extremely annoying dialect.

This has become a word, gratuitously used, and peppered frequently throughout sentences, to informalize a conversation.
I said, "yes", and she was like, "what time was that?" And I was like, "lunchtime". And she was like, "o.k.". And I was like, "did you see her hat?" And she was like, "yeah". And I was like, "what about her dress?" And she was like, "for sure". And I was like...........
