Get the either you eat bacon, or you are wrongmug. Doing something good doesn't make something bad you did go away. There is no righting wrongs or turning horrors into fairy tales. The one chance you have to right a wrong is when you have the choice to do the wrong, or not do the wrong. If you fuck up, you fucked up, and it comes with consequences, it's as simple as that. There is no erasing one history and replacing it with something that seems to make everybody smile because that isn't reality. The reality is, there are things humans have fucked up at in this country for a long time. One of them was that until yesterday, there had never been a female holding an office as a head of state or a vice head of state. A female getting elected to that position didn't right a wrong, the wrong remains, and the choices will also remain in the future. Racism is also like that, it doesn't get better or go away with time, it has to be worked on otherwise nothing gets done.
Spending a lot of time trying to right wrongs takes time away from things you can take your time on and not fuck up from here, since trying to right wrongs gets nothing done. If you have time to live your life ashamed of every wrong thing you had ever done, you can live your life ashamed, but you're still going to have a lot of shit to do at some point, and there's less and less time to get it done with every day that passes.
