Typically occurs among a bunch of friends, or a collective group primarily focused on playing video games.
One member is constantly hating on other members of the group that are playing games (alone or with other members) that they are not currently playing or like.

The effect occurs when the linguistic traits become widespread enough to become diluted and meaningless, and are dropped entirely by their originators.
The word "flippity-floppity-floop" came from South Park, when the issue of language gentrification was briefly touched on (whether intentional or not) in the episode "South Park is Gay". Wherein Chef describes how black people began using the word because white people started saying "hizzouse" and "hizzizouse", with the scene humorously ending with Mr. Garrison using the new word much to Chef's chagrin.
