1930's expression for "fuck" (vulgar) or "see" (polite). You hear this expression in old movies, or recent movies (like Get Low) which is about the 1930's.
In the old days we'd say, "When did you take up with Sallie Mae?-- after all she's a married woman." Today we would say, "When did you start seeing Sallie Mae?" Or, "When did you start fucking Sallie Mae?"

a Canadian phrase that was made popular in America with the 1982 winter hit "Take Off!" by comedians Bob and Doug MacKensey. Geddy Lee of Rush provides the actual singing between "verses" that are pretty much spoken by the comedians. Bob and Doug would go on to more success with their Christmas hit, the movie "Strange Brew", and more.
