Lol

Lol is often used as a text notation for laughing out loud. However where im from it is used instead of laughing.
People from where i come from have no emotion and only say lol instead of laughing

Archie is walking along with Chay and Thorbjorn.
Archie falls over
Chay says: lol at you
Thorbjorn: you nab

1. "Laughing out loud". You usually use it when you didn't understand what someone just said. Or when you are actually laughing.

2. "Lots of love". when you are writting a letter.

1. Tom: Oh der. it's tb4u, idk wat 2 say. ubr neway, ufb. jk
You: er......... LOL!

Adam: Why was the washing machine laughing? Because it was taking the piss out the underpants!
You: LOL! that's so funny.

LOL

1. acronym for "i reaLy can't think Of anything eLse to say", often used in online forums and chat.
2. acronym for "Laughing Out Loud", also used in online forums and chat (archaic).

Intention is signalled by how it is written:
a. lol = yeah, I'm bored
b. lol... = this is awkward...
c. lol! = that's amusing
d. LOL = that's very amusing; but I still didn't laugh
e. LOL! = not only was that amusing, but I might have actually LAUGHED OUT LOUD

The term has generally been replacd with "haha" to indicate that you found it amusing, as "lol" is often seen as dismissive.

Chris: lol...

2. Chris: And then he asked me if I wanted to hookup.
Michael: LOL!
