Emo

As sterotypical as Jocks, Goths, Punks, Gangsters, ect...just a bit more angsty. Seriously, who knew a definition could cause such an uproar??
This is way too Emo for my taste...

Emo

Emo, over the years, has gathered a lot of different definitions. It can be used as the shortened version of emotional, emotionally unstable, emotion, etc. It also has become a genre. A lot of people have stereotyped emo, and like most stereotypes, a little of it CAN be true, but not completly. Some examples are

- All emos cut/slit their wrist
- They are always depressed
-Drama queens/kings
-Terrible with kids

There are a lot more, but these are actually a few of the least offensive I have come across. Again, there can be some truth to stereotypes, but most of it is made up.

Most 'Emos' are a bit emotionally sensitive (hence the name 'emo'), which isn't always a bad thing. They are just a little more aware of their emotions, and aren't afraid to show them. Some are. There also is a genre of music that is called Emo. This tends to get mixed up/combined with scene, goth, and punk.
Emo has become a fairly popular genre, hasn't it?

Emo

Emo is a genre of music, a type of pop-punk music, but with a softer, more mainstream and guitar-based sound. It is NOT a type of person/style, as more commonly thought. "Emo" people can be classified under "scene", which is basically the same thing.
Friend #1: "Did you hear My Chemical Romance broke up??!!"
Friend #2: "OMG, yes! I was so depressed when I found out... they were my favourite emo band."
Friend #1: "I know... I thought you should know." *frowns* "Have you heard of All-Time-Low? They're a pop-punk band, kinda like My Chemical Romance."
Friend #2: "Yeah, I've heard of them. Thanks ____!"

emo

Emo is a style related to a dark subculture however emos aren't Goths nor Scenes which most people confused them with.
The emo wording itself comes from a short–cut for EMOtional meaning emos are a more sensitive version of a dark subculture, aother misconception being that all emos cut themselves which is false, not everyone who considers themselves emo actually self–harm and another person who may hurt themselves don't consider themselves emos.

An emo is iconically known as follows:

* Pale skin.
* Black hair. or a dark shade of brown.
* Iconic makeup with eyeliner.
* Piercings.
* Black clothing with rarely any color. Most emos often wear green, pink and white.
* Iconic converse, leather boots or vans.
* Choppy and spiked in layers haircut.
* Choppy bangs/fringes on one side of their face or completely covering one eye.

Emos are exactly as above however not all whom dresses as such call themselves emo, but it's a to differ Emo from Scenes and Goths, one being Goths wear maibly black with little to no color, and opposite- Scenes wear more color.
" I'd like to be emo but I don't really have the time to tease my hair all day. "

" Hey are you Goth??? " + No, I'm emo.
