Rate

Rate is a military term that is used when speaking between two Marines or sailors. It’s ship slang when referring to one’s status within the rank structure. Different ranks rate different privileges and customs when interacting with subordinate peers.

Typically this term is used when inferring someone doesn’t have the necessary status to do something.

A boot checks into the new unit, two NCOs walk up smoking and joking. This boot walks up and starts bullshiting like he’s earned his status. One of his NCOs will most likely say “You d-mb b!tch you must think you’re back on the block right? You don’t RATE, why don’t you unf—k yourself and go to parade rest before I use your a—hole as a boot strap”

Boot Pfc : Hey Sergeant, can I get a beer too?

Sergeant: B!tch, you don’t rate. I guess we just think we’re boys right?

Immortality Rate

The percentage/chance lf a person recovering from an illness/disease, the exact opposite of the mortality rate (death rate) but with a gamble for life.

Lower Immortality Rates means it is unlikely for a person of that illness to recover. i.e. high mortality rates.

Immortality rates are the exact opposite, lower meaning deadly, higher meaning safer.

Unemployment Rate

The difference between hiring graduate and students compared to hires experienced professionals and then mixing them together and kicking some out and hiring at random.

No one could believe there where so many unemployed experieced people with degrees, it must be the unemployment rate. But it could also be the morons prioritizing people without work degree hires for ones without who have more experience.

Federal Funds Rate

The interest rate at which banks lend to each other overnight when the bank manager accidentally spent too much of the deposits on yachts and mansions. The Fed attempts to influence this in order to set interest rates for monetary policy, but unfortunately nobody gives a shit about what Jerome Powell thinks.

Bob illegally spent $500 million of customer deposits on luxury yachts a private island in the Bahamas. He had to borrow extra money at a Federal Funds rate of 5%, to meet the liquidity requirements.

rack rate

The regular cost of a product or service without discounts.

The company offered us a substantial discount, but to avoid appearance of favor or bias, we must pay the regular rack rate plus tax.

rate tart

A person (male or female) who endeavours to move credit card balances around from one card to another (so-called Balance Transfers) calculating the cost to transfer so as to minimse interest payments. Rate Tarts will 'drop their knickers' to do this means that they will move the balance continually from one card to another, and have no loyality to any one card or company, ie they'll drop their knickers for anyone!

Eg: a rate tart will look and see that Credit Card Company ABC offers a 0% Interest rate for 18 months, with a 2.99% fee to transfer, as opposed to Credit Card Company XYZ who offer 12 months interest free and a 3.00% transfer fee, they will choose ABC.
