Tragedy Chaser

A person who visits people in hospitals/care centers etc, and checks on people. They do this, not for the person, but to make themselves look good. These people are mostly fake posers who have mastered the art of fake smiling and bullshitting. Most of the time they use God, Jesus, or any other form of deity they like or believe in. They may not even be religious at all, but at the core, are there for themselves, and only themselves. Also, the people they visit, do not necessarily know the chaser. This can occur often since elderly people do not who who the person is. Also, this person is most likely greedy as well.
Jim went to visit the hospitals again and went from room to room to see the injured and elderly. He's such a tragedy chaser.

Tragedy Beacon

An individual who can't wait to talk about personal or widespread tragedy. In the old days, this was the town gossip who called everyone ASAP to spread the bad news. In the digital era, it can include using social media (status updates, tweets, etc.) to be the first to comment on bad news. Often done under the auspices of being concerned or "united", but invariably comes off as just being morbid, showboating douchebag/douchbaguette.
Joe: Did you see her tweets about the funeral this morning?

Dave: Yeah. What a tragedy beacon.

tragedy hipster

An unholy birthing from the chaos following any tragedy, the tragedy hipster will ridicule the mainstream media for not covering 'more vital' tragedies that only their own magical social media feed displays.
"Everybody's praying for Paris, but no network will cover the stuff in Beirut."
"Dude. Check a news site instead of Facebook once in a while. You are such a tragedy hipster!"

tragedy of the commons

The fact that unregulated resources that are held in common are exploited to the point where they lose their usefulness.

Commonly used to argue that having any resources (parks, etc.) held in common will always lead to their destruction. Especially by libertarians and people who want corporate welfare.
We could make this publically-owned pristine forest into a public park Governor, but that would only lead to the tragedy of the commons. Let's sell it to the logging intrests instead! Since they'll have ownership over the land, they'll have good reason to take care of it.
