British slang referring to going in for a quick drink. Though it originally refered to half a pint of beer, it's now gone to a quick pint, or 2 pints, or so on and so forth.

A coffee made primarily of sugar and milk, used more or less by people who don't actually like the taste of coffee to appear to like coffee itself. It is a play on the term 'Half and Half'

John: I went out and got a coffee before work.
