A person who over Green Day is overly sensitive, emotional, and full of angst, or who adopts a certain style characterized by dyed black hair, tight t-shirts and skinny jeans, etc. However, a person is no longer considered an Emo when they obtain a mortgage.

It is a miscommunication through what scientists theorized as a translation error that Emos are sad pieces of shit that self harm and wallow in self sorrow all the time, but this is far from the truth. Yes one of the subspecies do tend to self harm and have a higher suicide rate, but there's many others that have happy and healthy lifes and just tend to use the Emo lifestyle.
The sad fact is though, that the Emo population has decreased do to their habitats, band concerts such as My Chemical Romance, being taken away, or more commonly referred to as 'disbanded.' They still have some mating sites like Hot Topic and Panic! At the Disco, but that doesn't change their alarming population change. Scientists theorize that one of the reasons is do to the miscommunication stated above.
When finding a mate to add to their friend group, the Emos use a special mating call that usually sounds like this:
'When I was a young boy...'
'The groom's bride is a...'
'Can you save my heavydirtysoul...'
