It's like a frisbee; but on a turntable, it plays music by passing a needle over grooves. The grooves are actually an image of soundwaves, and the needle moves a magnet inside a coil of wire, which creates a moving electric current. The electric current is shifted to kinetic movement by a speaker, which vibrates and produces the music. Lonely middle-aged men like to listen to vinyls the most, because even millennials are cooler than that, guys.
