A common reference to a device used for lighting a cigarette etc. ie ligher or matches. It is used particularly when expressing the need to borrow a lighting device from another person.

"I lost my lighter, can I get a light trick?"

When you light a lighter by holding down the gas with your thumb and flick the flint with your other hands index finger. To get the last out of an empty lighter. Technique usually used on lighters found on the floor.
