1. to hank, i.e. to pull a Hank Green; being the the "explain guy"; responding to a social media post, that raises a question , often a very specific one, that possibly many people wonder, and answering/explaining it
Commenter: "I don't get it, what do they mean 9/11 lead to Twilight? Can somebody explain this?"
Other Commenter: "Twilight's Author said that she was inspired by My Chemical Romance while writing Twilight and that especially Jacob is based on MCR lyrics. Gerard Way has said MCRs first song 'Skylines and Turnstiles' was his way of processing witnessing 9/11. Thus 9/11 inspired Twilight."
Commenter: "That's wild.. thanks for hanking!"

For knitting (or other crafting/making/doing): a boneheaded, obvious mistake, that someone of your expertise or experience shouldn't have made.
Context: Hank Green is an internet personality and creator of VidCon. He has positioned himself as an authority on a wide variety of topics on his YouTube channel SciShow and as producer & cohost of the channel Mental Floss. In September 2025 he posted a video to SciShow titled "Physicists Don’t Understand Why Knitting Works,” which contained obvious factual errors and many found to be dismissive and misogynistic against knitting as a skill and people who knit. Because of this, it was assumed no one with experience knitting was involved during the production process or final review before the video was posted. Due to the overwhelming backlash he received the video was taken down within three weeks and Green issued a formal apology.

To Hank (someone)
Word, a part of Brawl stars fandom slang. Means to nerf a brawler to oblivion.
Based on what happened to Hank.
Is an opposite to Franking
