Often seen in online communities or workplaces, where individuals seek to protect the status quo or curry favor with those in power by collectively attacking dissenters.

I pointed out how shady it was that one person averages more than 4 raffle wins every October event, and within minutes there was gowngooning by the whole group trying to shut me down.
