Meerkat Day

A code word for taking a sickie from work when you're not really sick and spending the day chillaxing, shopping or hanging out with your co-conspirators. This code word is useful in work emails because using the phrase "I'm chucking a sickie" doesn't go down well with your managers should they read your work email.
The word originated in Melbourne, when two bored friends orchestrated taking a sickie on the same day and went to the Zoo to see the Meerkats. Knowing that their managers have the right to read their work emails, they had to devise a code word.
Hey Mate, Wednesdays sux, let's take a Meerkat day tomorrow, ride the Ferris Wheel and go to the Rooftop Bar on Swanson street.

Dead Meerkat

The infamous expression of shock/disbelief and/or rejection. Famous users of the 'Dead Meerkat' include Petr Cech, and of course, meerkats, such as the one in 'The Lion King' (Please note that no research was taken into whether or not the meerkat in 'The Lion King' did indeed assume the 'Dead Meerkat' position even once throughout the entirity of the film).
The expression is a pose in which the user extends the arms outwards, elbows bent, fingers pointing downwards with the palms facing towards the ribcage, usually accompanied by a facial expression of shock and/or bewilderness/disorientation. In extreme circumstances, the user will assume the pose whilst simultaneously falling backwards onto the ground, curling up one's legs and stiffening the toes.
Examples:
1.
Player A: *Slots ball past Petr Cech*
Petr Cech: *Falls onto back and assumes the position of the 'Dead Meerkat'*

2.
Person A: "Oi mate watch me get wiv dis fitty yeah"
Person B: "Go on then son"
Person A: *Walks up to target and offers to dance*
Target: *Looks at her less attractive friend, pointing towards the bar, followed by a nod in unison from both, thus walking away*
Person A: *Assumes the 'Dead Meerkat' position*

meerkat nap

Fighting to stay awake during work or school and then nodding off, almost falling out of your chair or smacking your head on a desk and then waking up suddenly only to nod off again. The cycle usually repeats multiple times and is very funny to watch.
guy1: Did you take chem notes today?

guy2: Nope, I was too busy laughing at Tom.

guy1: What happened?

guy2: He was taking a meerkat nap and fell out of his chair.

guy1: That's what he gets for staying up playing Call of Duty.

guy2: And then he jumped up, sat down and fell back asleep.
